Nigeria are on their way to their seventh FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup after defeating Liberia 6-1 on aggregate.

Nigeria punched their ticket to FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Dominican Republic 2024™ by defeating Liberia 6-1 on aggregate in African qualifying.

After posting a 4-1 win in the first leg on Sunday, Nigeria took care of matters on home soil in Abuja on Friday with a 2-0 triumph. It marked the seventh U-17 Women’s World Cup qualification for the Super Falcons.

Nigeria wasted no time in getting on the score-sheet, as Harmony Chidi, who found the back of the net in the first leg, opened the scoring after just four minutes.

Nigeria continued to dominate play, but Liberia hung tough and it was still just a one-goal encounter going into the final half-hour of play. Chidi would make her presence felt again in the 63rd minute to double the lead and seal Nigeria’s place in the Dominican Republic.

Nigeria joined Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, England, Japan, Korea DPR, Korea Republic, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Spain and USA in the U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will take place from 16 October to 3 November.

The winners of the Morocco-Zambia and Kenya-Burundi ties this weekend will complete the 16-team field for the tournament.
