Australia and Japan will aim to further finetune themselves ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in international friendly matches over the coming days.

Australia host China PR in back-to-back friendlies while Japan will face New Zealand twice in Murcia, Spain.
While Sam Kerr has been ruled out of the Olympics due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Australia head coach Tony Gustavsson has an experienced squad at his disposal for the matches against reigning AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ champions China PR.
Gustavsson named 21 of the 23 players who helped Australia secure Paris 2024 qualification for the ties on Friday and Monday.
The final squad will be named in early June and the matches against China PR – to be played in Adelaide and Sydney – are effectively the final chance for the players to impress.

Australia, who qualified for the Paris Olympics after an impressive 13-0 aggregate win against Uzbekistan, are in a tough-looking Group D with the United States, Zambia and Germany for company.
Japan, meanwhile, will play in Group C at the Olympics with world champions Spain, Nigeria and Brazil standing in their way.

Japan qualified for the Olympics after edging DPR Korea 2-1 on aggregate and will look forward to gauging themselves against a New Zealand side also bound for Paris 2024.
Silver medallists in 2012, Japan were eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the Tokyo Olympics and will be aiming to challenge for medals in Paris.
Head coach Futoshi Ikeda has named an experienced 22-player squad, half of whom play their club football in Europe.

Leading the charge will be Saki Kumagai with the likes of Yui Hasegawa, Mina Tanaka, Risa Shimizu and Moeka Minami all providing valuable experience to the squad.
