Qatar: Al Sadd reign supreme to complete season double
Al Sadd, who regained the Qatar Stars League title last month, completed a season double after winning the Amir Cup for a record 19th time, having played 15 minutes of extra time without their star striker Akram Afif, who was red carded after a challenge on Bruno Tabata.
After a tightly-contested first half failed to produce goals, Al Sadd hit the woodwork thrice in the second half but Qatar SC hung on to take the game into extra time. Qatar SC, who had survived extra time in the quarter and semi-finals, failed to take advantage of Afif’s dismissal in the 107th minute.
Nine minutes later, Uribe fired the ball into the net after substitute Pedro Miguel’s shot had ricocheted off a defender.
Jordan: Al Hussein edge Sahab SC to seal title
Al Hussein clinched their maiden Jordanian Pro League title following a come-from-behind victory over Sahab, capping an impressive season in which they lost only one match.
Hamza Saifi opened the scoring in the 21st minute before Al Hussein charged to victory, with forward Abdou Aziz Ndiaye scoring in the 45th and 71st minutes.
The Irbid-based club finished with a two-point edge over Al Faisaly, who beat Shabab Urdun 6-2, while Al Wehdat ended their campaign in third spot after defeating Aqaba 1-0 with the latter taking sixth spot.
Al Ramtha took fourth, finishing ahead of Al Salt after beating basement side Al Jalil 4-0.
UAE: Al Wasl complete domestic double after ending 17-year wait for league title
Al Wasl completed the domestic double after clinching the UAE Pro League title by sailing past Shabab Al Ahly 3-0, with two games to spare.
Having won the UAE President’s Cup title with a resounding 4-0 win over Al Nasr 10 days earlier, the Dubai-based club – who are on 61 points – have taken a nine-point lead over second-placed Shabab Al Ahli (52 points).
The win over Shabab Al Ahli gave Al Wasl their eighth league title, making them the joint-second most successful club alongside Shabab Al Ahli.
Saudi Arabia: Al Hilal see off Al Tai, Al Ittihad rebound against Damac
Al Hilal SFC are just a win or a draw away from completing an undefeated season as they brushed aside Al Tai 3-1. The victory was followed by Al Hilal SFC receiving the Saudi Pro League 2023-24 trophy, having clinched the title with three games to spare.
First-half goals from Salem Al Dawsari and Michael set the tone for the match, before Malcom made it 3-0 at the hour mark. A late Al Tai consolation from Andrei Cordea did little to change the result.
Al Ittihad returned to winning ways in style with a 4-1 win against Damac. Goals from Jota, Talal Haji, Marwan Al Sahafi and Farhah Al Shamrani had the home side in Jeddah comfortably ahead before Farouk Chafai pulled one back for Damac in stoppage-time.
Fabian Noguera scored a 94th-minute winner to see Abha pull themselves out of the relegation zone with a 2-1 win over Al Khaleej with Al Riyadh staying a point following their 2-2 draw with Al Nassr.
Elsewhere, Alvaro Medran rounded off a well-worked team goal as Al Ettifaq edged Al Shabab 1-0 in Dammam, Al Fateh picked up their first win in four games, coming from a goal down to win 2-1 against bottom club Al Hazem, while Al Fayha registered their third consecutive draw with a 1-1 stalemate with Al Taawoun and Al Ahli fired blanks in a 0-0 draw against Al Raed.
Bahrain: Manama end campaign with Riffa win
Manama signed off from the Bahrain Premier League with a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Riffa to finish fifth in the standings.
Suelynton Thiago and Salem Hussain were both on target for Manama in the second half, while Riffa substitute Mohammed Anz supplied their lone consolation late in the game.
Despite suffering their fifth defeat of the season, Riffa stayed third ahead of Al Muharraq.
Iraq: Al Shorta pull away with consecutive wins
Al Shorta opened up a six-point lead at the top of the Iraq Stars League after securing victories against Al Karkh (2-1) and Al Qalim (2-0) respectively.
Air Force Club, who have two matches in hand, are second following their 2-0 victory over Al Kahraba and can close the gap with a win against third place Al Zawraa, who drew 1-1 against Duhok in midweek, on Monday.
