The AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ Indonesia 2024 is set for a titanic final when DPR Korea take on Japan at Capt. I Wayan Dipta Stadium, a fitting conclusion between the two most impressive teams in the tournament.

Just like it was in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2024 in March, DPR Korea are showing the fruits of their labour in youth women’s football with yet another final appearance with head coach Song Sung Gwon crediting it to meticulous planning.

“We are very happy to be in the final and we will do our best to become champions,” said Song. “The whole country is focusing on the development of women’s football and I think we are on the right track.

“We are paying attention to developing the game very systematically and strategically according to the various age groups and education systems.”

Song has prior experience at this level, having guided DPR Korea to the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2017 title and is hoping his experience and the team’s preparations since the semi-final win over China PR will take them over the line.

“Our players played very well until the semi-final and they were very good and determined to win to make the final.

“They played well but were also impatient, so we have done our best during the past two days to fully prepare them for the final.”
