C Salzburg have become the 12th and final European team to qualify for the inaugural Mundial de Clubes FIFA 25™ (FIFA Club World Cup 2025™).
Arsenal’s defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals means that the Austrian Bundesliga side are now assured of a place at the global tournament via the ranking pathway.
The new 32-team competition, which will take place in the United States during June and July 2025, features clubs from each of the six confederations, competing for the title of world champions.
With 12 spots at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 for European teams, the winners of the UEFA Champions League over the last three seasons – Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea – have already secured their places.
Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Porto, Benfica, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Atletico Madrid have filled eight more of the berths via the ranking pathway for UEFA clubs, based on their Champions League performances over the past four seasons, including the current campaign.
In the event of a club winning two or more editions of the confederation’s premier club competition during the 2021-2024 period, the ranking pathway will be used to grant access.
A cap of two clubs per country will be applied to the access list with an exception in cases where more than two clubs from the same country win the confederation’s premier club competition over the four-year period.
And as the winners of the current edition of the UEFA Champions League, which concludes with the final in London on 1 June, are certain to be one of the teams listed above, then the next best eligible ranked team on the qualification pathway – FC Salbzurg – have booked their ticket to the US following Arsenal’s elimination.
