Mehdi Taremi came off the bench and salvaged a point for FC Porto as the Iranian striker levelled the score at 2-2 with eight minutes left on Saturday, as Hidemasa Morita’s Sporting Lisbon inched closer to the league title in Portugal with a 4-0 defeat of Gil Vicente.
Germany: Doan keeps Freiburg in race
Ritsu Doan played a one-two with Michael Gregoritsch to escape his marker and curled his first-time effort from the edge of the box past the goalkeeper as SC Freiburg edged Darmstadt 1-0 in the Bundesliga on Saturday. With the winner, the 25-year-old took his tally to five goals for the season as his side continue to chase a place in Europe.
Meanwhile, defender Hiroki Ito kept a clean sheet and Jeong Woo-yeong was a substitute for Stuttgart as they defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 to remain tied on points with second-placed Bayern Munich whose 11-year title streak was ended by Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.
Portugal: Taremi scores late equaliser
Mehdi Taremi came off the bench to score an 82nd-minute equaliser for FC Porto as they secured a 2-2 draw with Famalicao in the Portuguese top division on Saturday. It was the striker’s first league goal for the club after scoring against the same opposition last December.
Yuki Soma scored his third goal of the season in Casa Pia’s 2-2 draw with a Portimonense side featuring Japanese goalkeeper Kosuke Nakamura and Taichi Fukui. Meanwhile, it is Sporting Lisbon who sit at the top of the table with Hidemasa Morita playing the full 90 minutes in their 4-0 win against Gil Vicente.
Italy: Shomurodov nets to deny Inter
Eldor Shomurodov scored his third goal since returning from a long injury layoff as Cagliari held Serie A leaders Inter to a 2-2 draw at the San Siro on Sunday. The 28-year-old Uzbekistan striker hit a powerful volley past Yann Sommer from the edge of the box in the 64th minute to make it 1-1 for Cagliari who are four points clear of the drop zone.
Daichi Kamada featured in the Lazio midfield as they defeated bottom side Salernitana 4-1 to sit six points behind fifth-placed AS Roma.
England: Grant books Wembley date
Charlotte Grant’s Tottenham Hotspur reached the Women’s FA Cup final after beating a Leicester City side, featuring Saori Takarada and Yuka Momiki, 2-1 in extra time on Sunday. The 22-year-old Australia defender came on in the 77th minute with Spurs trailing 1-0 and helped them reach their first-ever FA Cup final where they will face Manchester United.
Her compatriots Steph Catley and Caitlin Foord started for third-placed Arsenal as they posted a 5-0 win against Bristol City to reduce the gap to Women’s Super League leaders Manchester City to six points.
In the Championship, Australian midfielder Massimo Luongo scored for promotion-chasing Ipswich Town, who also featured his international teammate Cameron Burgess and Iraq’s Ali Al Hamadi among their starters, as they lead the standings by one point despite a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough.
Netherlands: Ogawa hits double figures
Koki Ogawa took his tally in the Eredivisie to 10 goals by scoring a brace in NEC Nijmegen’s 2-2 draw against PEC Zwolle on Sunday. The 26-year-old, who is on loan from Yokohama FC, has also scored four goals for the club in their run to the final of the KNVB Cup where they will face Ayase Ueda’s Feyenoord later this month.
Japan full-back Yukinari Sugawara continued his goalscoring form bagging his fourth goal in his last six league appearances for AZ Alkmaar in a 3-2 win against struggling RKC Waalwijk that strengthened their hold on fourth place.
Koki Saito contributed an assist in Sparta Rotterdam’s 3-2 defeat of Almere while Indonesia’s Thom Haye was the provider for Pelle van Amersfoort’s 88th-minute goal as Heerenveen defeated Ajdin Hrustic’s Heracles Almelo 2-0 for their first win in six outings.
Scotland: Oda, Devlin send Hearts to Europe
Yutaro Oda and Cameron Devlin scored as third-placed Hearts ensured European football next season by securing a top-four finish in the Scottish Premiership with a 4-2 win against Livingston for whom Tete Yengi bagged an assist and was then sent off. Kye Rowles, Nathaniel Atkinson and Kyosuke Tagawa were also involved for the winners.
Reo Hatate found the breakthrough for defending champions Celtic seven minutes into the second half before Kyogo Furuhashi doubled the lead eight minutes later as the Hoops defeated St Mirren 3-0 to take a four-point lead over Rangers at the top of the table.
