Juventus are the latest team to qualify for the inaugural Mundial de Clubes FIFA™.
Barcelona’s victory over Napoli in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 means that Massimiliano Allegri’s side are now assured of a place at the global tournament via the ranking pathway.
The new 32-team competition, which will take place in the United States during June and July 2025, features clubs from each of the six confederations, competing for the title of world champions.
With 12 spots open at Mundial de Clubes FIFA 25™ for European teams, the winners of the UEFA Champions League over the last three seasons – Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea – have already secured their places.
Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Porto, Benfica and Borussia Dortmund have filled six more of the berths via the ranking pathway for UEFA clubs, based on their Champions League performances over the past four seasons, including the current campaign.
The winners of the current edition of the UEFA Champions League, which concludes with the final in London on 1 June, will take one spot, with the next two best ranked teams on the qualification pathway – one of which is now certain to be Juventus – joining them in the US.
In the event of a club winning two or more editions of the confederation’s premier club competition during the 2021-2024 period, the ranking pathway will be used to grant access.
A cap of two clubs per country will be applied to the access list with an exception in cases where more than two clubs from the same country win the confederation’s premier club competition over the four-year period.
Napoli are out of the qualification reckoning having exited the UEFA Champions League as they will not be able to match Juventus’ ranking score and, with Inter Milan already qualified, both of the places open to teams from Italy have now been filled.
