Ihar Bryshtsel netted four goals to help Belarus to a historic quarter-final win over Portugal.

Belarus 4-3 Portugal (AET)
Belarus goals: Bryshtsel (4)
Portugal goals: Algarvio, Jordan, Lopes
Player of the Match: Ihar Bryshtsel

An Ihar Bryshtsel-inspired Belarus booked their place in the UAE 2024 Dubai™ semi-finals after coming from behind to sink Portugal.

The Seleção das Quinas led at half-time following a stunning Duarte Algarvio volley, but Belarus responded in kind from second period kick-off when Bryshtsel fired home a volley of his own which kissed the post on its way into the net.

Bryshtsel then, much like he did against Colombia last time out, completed his hat-trick with a free-kick and a penalty to put the knockout-stage newcomers in full control, only for Jordan and Bernardo Lopes to take the game to extra time. Belarus wouldn’t be denied, however, as Bryshtsel bundled home a winner with barely a second left on the clock.

Belarus will now face the winner of Italy-Tahiti on Saturday in their first-ever World Cup semi-final.
