FIFA is counting down to the tournament by showcasing 10 of the greatest moments in FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup history.

There’s getting your first FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup™ win, and there’s getting it Emirati style. United Arab Emirates were losing 2-1 to Cameroon at the midway point on the Plages du Prado in Marseille in 2008.

Then the ordinary exploded into the extraordinary. Ten goals were scored in the next 11 minutes – eight from the UAE. Rami Almessabi, Ali Karim, Sulaiman Albloushi and Ibrahim Albalooshi netted four of them inside just 84 seconds! Marcelo Mendes’s side ultimately ran out 10-4 winners.

“That was crazy,” said Almessabi post-game. “I was wondering how we could eke out a win, then it was like someone unlocked a switch and the goals started flying in.

“I think the spectators enjoyed it. We really did. It feels great to get the UAE’s first win in this tournament.”
