Iraq, the 2007 champions, will be braced for a tough test from a side determined to make an impact on the continental stage.

Familiar foes
While this will be the first meeting between Indonesia and Iraq at the AFC Asian Cup; the two sides have faced each other seven times in men’s internationals, with Iraq remaining unbeaten in all those games (W6 D1).

Proud record
This is the fifth time that Indonesia are taking part in the AFC Asian Cup and the first time since 2007; they are unbeaten in their first game of each of their previous four campaigns (W2 D2), including wins in each of the last two such games.

Tough side
Iraq have lost just one of their last eight group stage games in the AFC Asian Cup (W6 D1) and are currently on a four-game unbeaten run at this stage of the competition; the last time Iraq lost their first game in any edition of the AFC Asian Cup was in 2011 (2-1 to Islamic Republic of Iran).

Off target
Iraq’s Mohanad Ali attempted seven headed shots during the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019, the second most of any player in that edition of the tournament; however, he failed to score even once from those shots.
