Akhtam Nazarov, meanwhile, expects Tajikistan to shine in their maiden AFC Asian Cup appearance.

Yan brings plenty of experience to the table, having featured twice for China PR at the continental showpiece – in the 2015 and 2019 editions.

“We, as a team, are thrilled and have prepared thoroughly to secure a victory in tomorrow’s game,” said Yan, who plys his trade with Shanghai Port. “Our aim is not only to win but also to make our fans in China proud. We appreciate the tremendous support from our fans and hope to bring smiles to their faces.

“We have injected some young talents into the national team. These young players have already integrated well into the squad, some have also had the experience of playing in the AFC Champions League.

“This is my third time playing in the AFC Asian Cup and I intend to leverage my experience to support the team. My goal is to encourage and prepare the team thoroughly, emphasising the importance of focus and maintaining a stable performance. As a seasoned player, I understand the value of injecting youthful energy into the team.

“I firmly believe that these young talents will shoulder greater responsibilities in the future. I am delighted to be part of this team and hope they integrate quickly and contribute significantly.

“As players, when we prioritise self-improvement, we can collectively enhance our game and play our style of football effectively.”

Despite the threat China PR will bring to the match, Nazarov expressed his optimism about Tajikistan’s chances of securing three points.

“We are delighted to be here. It’s a significant tournament for us, and we are hopeful for a positive outcome. Tomorrow’s game poses no concern. We are confident and ready to fight for every ball on the field,” said Nazarov.

“Our experience, especially those that I have personally been involved in, provides me with valuable lessons. Over the past three years, we had had a strong campaign, creating good memories. It’s worth noting that our country’s football has also progressed and developed.

“Five years ago, we had a good game against China PR despite losing 1-0. Nevertheless, during that match, we had shown that we can create chances. Since then, both China PR and the Tajikistan team have undergone numerous changes. We are fully prepared.”
