Camila has been named the Best Women’s Player in the World for the first time by FutsalPlanet. The 32-year-old beat off competition from fellow Brazilians Amandinha, Camila, Debora Vanin, Emilly and Lucileia, Portuguese Sara Ferreira and Janice Silva, Spaniards Irene Samper and Peque, and Iranian Mohadeseh Mohammadi for the award.
The Ubirata native had an exceptional 2023 at club and international level. Camila inspired Stein to the Copa Libertadores and Copa Mundo do Futsal crowns, and Brazil to Copa America and Xanxere International Tournament glory.
“Camila is out of the ordinary,” Emilly told FIFA. “She has won everything and thank God she is Brazilian. I am very happy for her, I know what it will mean, she deserves it!
“I know Camila, I know her heart, the way she works and the humility she has. Thank God she is my team-mate on the national team. She deserves it, she has won everything she could have with Stein Cascavel.
“I’m proud it was her. I’m very happy for her achievement, and I hope to meet her so I can tell her in person how much she fought to get where she is.”
Arguably the most multifunctional player on the planet, Camila is desperate to help Brazil conquer the maiden FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup™, which will take place in the Philippines next year. She recently chatted to FIFA about that, her sensational form and wanting to become a vet.
