Kaya FC-Iloilo secured their second league title in as many seasons after they registered a narrow 1-0 win against Davao Aguilas in the penultimate set of fixtures in the Philippines on Sunday while their closest challengers Cebu FC were beaten 2-1 by Stallion Laguna.

Philippines: Kaya secure back-to-back titles
Kaya FC-Iloilo emerged as the Philippines Football League champions with a match to spare after they defeated Davao Aguilas 1-0 on Sunday as Jarvey Gayoso scored the winner in his farewell match. Cebu FC, in second place, suffered a 2-1 loss to third-placed Stallion Laguna in their penultimate outing and fell four points behind, allowing Kaya to secure back-to-back championships.

United City and One Taguig settled for a 2-2 draw while Manila Digger posted a 7-0 win against Garelli United. Tuloy inflicted a third straight defeat on Loyola by beating them 6-2 while Philippine Air Force beat Philippine Army 2-0. In the other game of the week, Mendiola FC 1991 edged Maharlika Taguig 1-0.
Vietnam: Thanh Hoa triumphant in cup
Thanh Hoa FC successfully defended their Vietnamese National Cup title after defeating Hanoi FC 9-8 on penalties in the final at the Thanh Hoa Stadium on Sunday. The two sides played out a goalless draw in regulation time, resulting in the cup final being decided in a marathon shootout which the holders won.

Thanh Hoa, coached by Bulgarian tactician Velizar Popov, had also won the 2023 edition of the cup on penalties – beating Viettel FC 5-3 at the same venue almost a year ago. Meanwhile, Hong Linh Ha Tinh preserved their V.League 1 status after seeing off Pho Hien 3-2 in the Relegation Playoff at Hang Day Stadium.
Malaysia: Selangor through on penalties

Selangor needed penalties to defeat Kuching City in the quarter-finals of the Malaysia FA Cup on Saturday. After losing the first leg 2-1, the Red Giants defeated Kuching 3-2 in extra time to force the penalties which they won 5-3 to reach the semi-finals where they will face Terengganu who beat Sabah 3-0 in the second leg to seal a 7-0 aggregate win.

Defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim posted an 8-0 win against Malaysian University on Friday to make it a 13-0 victory over two legs. In the semis, the Southern Tigers will face Kedah Darul Aman who held Penang goalless to progress, courtesy of their narrow 1-0 win in the away first leg.
Singapore: Sailors, Stags level at the top

Maxime Lestienne, Adam Swandi and Bailey Wright scored as Lion City Sailors defeated Tanjong Pagar United 3-0 on Sunday to top the Singapore Premier League table. There, they are matched on points by Tampines Rovers who defeated Young Lions 2-0 with goals from Seia Kunori and Boris Kopitovic on Saturday.

Japanese forward Tomoyuki Doi struck a hat-trick as Geylang International overcame defending champions Albirex Niigata (S) 6-0 to sit three points behind the leading duo in third place while fourth-placed Balestier Khalsa defeated DPMM FC 4-2 in the other fixture of the week.
Myanmar: Holders Shan open with victory

Shan United began their title defence in the Myanmar National League on a winning note after they edged Myawady 1-0 on Sunday, courtesy of a 69th minute winner from Mark Sekyi. Yangon United also posted a win in their opening match by defeating Rakhine United 2-0 while Dagon Star United beat newcomers Thitsar Arman 3-1 on Saturday.

Dagon Port, the other newly promoted outfit, fell to a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Hantharwady United while Yadanarbon and Ayeyawady United settled for a 1-1 draw.
