Despite going down to 10 men after Marselino Ferdinan picked up a second yellow card, Indonesia took the lead three minutes later when Ferarri headed home from a corner kick.
\nLaos were not to be denied a point when 18-year-old Peeter Phanthavong turned in a cutback in the 76th minute.
\nIndonesia take on Vietnam in Hanoi on Sunday while Laos return to Vientiane to face the Philippines.
