The dynamic winger saw off the challenge of a pair of Spanish forwards as Pau Comendador picked up the adidas Silver Ball and Celia Segura claimed the adidas Bronze Ball.

At the end of a fortnight where she announced herself as very much a senior star in waiting, Comendador also collected the adidas Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer, with five goals. USA’s Kennedy Fuller and Segura collected the adidas Silver Boot and adidas Bronze Boot respectively.

USA’s Evan O’Steen was awarded the adidas Golden Glove as the tournament’s leading goalkeeper while Nigeria took home the FIFA Fair Play trophy.

Award winners
adidas Golden Ball: Jon Il-chong (Korea DPR)
adidas Silver Ball: Pau Comendador (Spain)
adidas Bronze Ball: Celia Segura (Spain)

adidas Golden Boot: Pau Comendador (Spain)
adidas Silver Boot: Kennedy Fuller (USA)
adidas Bronze Boot: Celia Segura (Spain)

adidas Golden Glove: Evan O’Steen (USA)

FIFA Fair Play Trophy: Nigeria

adidas Golden Ball
Jon Il-chong (Korea DPR)
The dynamic winger was a game-changer for the champions and a constant threat with her dribbling, passing and vision. Stationed on the left in Korea’s 4-4-2 she was tasked with providing the ammunition but when it came time to decide things she chose no less a stage than the final to do so. Grabbing the goal that dragged her nation back into the contest, she then converted her side’s penultimate spot kick in their penalty shootout triumph.

adidas Silver Ball
Pau Comendador (Spain)
Languid, blessed with fine technical qualities, a silky creator and a deadly finisher; Comendador was rewarded for an outstanding tournament with the adidas Silver Ball. Capable of playing either wide or through the middle, the 17-year-old’s willingness to take defenders on marked her as a genuine danger in the Caribbean and a promising future surely awaits the Spanish no10.

adidas Bronze Ball
Celia Segura (Spain)
Another of Spain’s versatile technicians, Segura claimed the adidas Bronze Ball at the conclusion of a tournament where her pace, trickery on the ball and hustling off it were a key part of her nation’s advance to the final. Scoring the goal that put Spain ahead in the decider and then converting their first spot-kick in the shootout, Segura did all she could to try and help her nation win a third title.

adidas Golden Boot
Pau Comendador (Spain)
Five goals in 411 minutes for Spain
Drifting between wide and central roles, Comendador was deadly whether running straight at defenders or cutting in off the left. Not just a prolific scorer but a scorer of important goals, the silky playmaker was on target in a decisive group stage win against Korea Republic and then in both Spain’s quarter-final and semi-final victories.

adidas Silver Boot
Kennedy Fuller (USA)
Four goals and three assists in 511 minutes for USA
Gatecrashing the Spanish scoring party is USA’s velvety midfield threat Kennedy Fuller. Famed for her self-styled ‘Warrior Buns,’ the 17-year-old also proved deadly in front of goal, scoring in three straight games and then again in the third place match to help deliver her nation the bronze medal.

adidas Bronze Boot
Celia Segura (Spain)
Four goals and two assists in 406 minutes for Spain
A brace in the quarterfinals, a decisive assist in the semis and then the goal that put Spain ahead in the final; Segura was the player that stood up when Spain needed her. The right winger in La Rojita’s 4-3-3, her combination with Comendador has the potential to be a prolific one for years to come at U-20 and senior level.

adidas Golden Glove
Evan O’Steen (USA)
At a tournament with some outstanding keepers, it was USA’s Evan O’Steen that took home the adidas Golden Glove award as the best of the lot. What makes this even more notable is that the 16-year-old didn’t feature in her nation’s opening match. Having claimed the starting role though, O’Steen was exceptional both with her distribution and shot stopping. Four clean sheets from five matches was also a fine return, with the teenage talent only beaten once, by Korea DPR’s Ro Un-hyang in the semi-finals.

REPORTER : MOHAMMAD SHAYAN NEJAD Korea DPR’s Jon Il-chong has been crowned the adidas Golden Ball winner at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Dominican Republic 2024™.
